SciCAPS Charter
Mission Statement
The mission of SciCAPS is to conduct scientific research and investigations into paranormal phenomena, employing rigorous methodologies to explore, understand, and contribute valuable data to the broader paranormal and scientific community.
Objectives
1 To investigate and analyse paranormal occurrences using scientific principles and methodologies.
2 To contribute to the advancement of knowledge by collecting, documenting, and sharing empirical evidence related to paranormal phenomena.
3 To foster collaboration with other organisations, groups, and experts in relevant scientific fields, promoting a coordinated and interdisciplinary approach to paranormal research.
4 To promote education and awareness about paranormal studies through responsible and transparent communication.
Operating Principles
1 Scientific Rigour
Conduct all investigations with a commitment to the scientific method, emphasising objectivity and empirical evidence
Utilise advanced technologies and methodologies to enhance the accuracy and reliability of data
2 Collaboration
Collaborate with other organisations, groups, and professionals in fields such as physics, psychology, and engineering to bring diverse expertise to paranormal investigations.
Encourage open communication and knowledge-sharing among team members, groups and the wider community.
3 Ethical Standards
Uphold high ethical standards in research, ensuring integrity and honesty in all activities.
Respect the privacy, confidentiality, and beliefs of individuals within the field of the paranormal, whether investigators, groups, members of the public, location/property owners or witnesses to paranormal experiences.
Full confidentiality will be exercised with any investigation, interview or recording without the express permission to release or share with the paranormal investigative community.
4 Advancement
Communicate findings, methodologies, and conclusions openly with the public and the scientific and paranormal community with the aim to advance the paranormal field.
Share data, reports, and research outcomes to contribute to the collective knowledge base
Allow access to the PULSE application, the SciCAPS software platform and database to foster discussions, collective evidence reviews and collaboration of the development of scientific theories and understanding of paranormal experiences.
Membership
Membership in SciCAPS is open to individuals who share a commitment to scientific rigour in paranormal research. Members must adhere to the group’s operating principles and actively contribute to investigations and research activities.
Leadership Structure
The organization shall have a leadership team consisting of Director, Technical Director and Investigations Coordinator responsible for overseeing various aspects of the group’s activities, including research, training, investigations, team meetings, communications, and administration.
Amendments
This charter may be amended by a majority vote of the membership. Proposed amendments must be submitted in writing to the SciCAPS Steering Committee and distributed to all members for review before a vote is conducted.
Effective Date
This charter is effective as of 1st March 2024
